The plight of the elderly is almost forgotten in Ukraine

Many elderly people stay Ukraine is falling into an almost forgotten situation, having to rely on the meager help of volunteers.

In the city of Dnipro, central Ukraine, a maternity hospital was hastily converted into a temporary shelter to house 130 women, the elderly and the disabled.

People living in temporary shelters said that the elderly people who had been living alone for a long time were facing the most difficulty. There were bombs and bullets outside, they were forgotten, unable to contact their families when they were old and weak.

All staff of this shelter are volunteers. Whatever you can do yourself, try to do it.

Among the elderly here, some have lived through two wars, and this is the third time they have faced hostilities. Most of them are looking forward to returning home.
