Before that, at about 5pm on April 21, the Outrivaling 3 ship with a tonnage of 12,000 DWT was carrying out procedures to dock at wharf 4 of Hoang Dieu Port to unload when it suddenly stalled and drifted freely from the sea. anchoring position to the undercarriage area of ​​Hoang Van Thu (about 400 m from the mooring position).

There were 18 crew members on board at the time of the incident.

After the bow and crane towers passed under the bridge, the stern of the ship collided with the park embankment, breaking a part of the railing, and the ship was stuck.

The time when the ship drifted under the bridge, the tide was still low, so the entire cabin, crane towers as well as cargo on the deck area were still quite far from the bridge, not affecting the tree structure. this bridge.

Immediately after the incident happened, the functional forces were also present at the scene, organized traffic separation and regulation in the area under the bridge in Hong Bang district, the way to Hoang Van Thu bridge; and asked people to leave the area for safety.

Hai Phong Port Authority has coordinated with units to mobilize people and send vehicles to the scene to organize the removal of the ship from the stuck position and investigate to clarify the cause.

Hoang Van Thu Bridge is the most unique and modern bridge with the shape of a “sea bird’s wing” in Hai Phong. The bridge was completed and put into use in 2019. In particular, the area under the bridge is where people often go out to exercise and enjoy the wind in the evening.
