In 1964, Ha Tien Cement was born, the first cement factory in the South and the second in Vietnam (after Hai Phong Cement) with a capacity of 240,000 tons/year clinker in Kien Luong and a cement grinding plant. Cement capacity of 300,000 tons/year located in Thu Duc (HCMC), up to now, after nearly 58 years of establishment and development, Ha Tien 1 Cement Joint Stock Company has two factories and three crushing stations with advanced technology. advanced equipment, modern equipment of G7 countries, distributed in the Southeast, Southwest, South Central and Central Highlands, with a total capacity of more than 4.6 million tons of clinker and 7.5 million tons of cement/year .

Vicem Ha Tien became the largest cement producer in the South, making an important contribution to the growth and leading role of Cement Industry of Vietnam Cement Corporation.

Sustainable development strategy

Promoting the leading role, over the past 3 years, Vicem Ha Tien has promoted and improved the level of production line technology as the main driving force for the sustainable development strategy. Following the direction of the Vietnam Cement Corporation (Vicem), from 2019, Vicem Ha Tien actively innovates in production with the goal of minimizing the use of raw materials, non-renewable fossil resources and search for alternative sources of raw materials and fuels; at the same time, focus on implementing investment solutions, renovating technological lines to increase production capacity, reduce consumption and protect the environment.

According to a company representative, Vicem Ha Tien has optimized the stages of exploiting limestone and clay materials; make the most of limestone with low CaO and high MgO content to produce clinker and cement, in order to save resources and reduce production costs.

Applying the circular economy model, Vicem Ha Tien deploys to make use of thermoelectricity slag and metallurgical slag as raw materials for cement production and waste burning program as a fuel to replace coal in clinker smelting at the factory. Binh Phuoc cement and Kien Luong factory.

In 2021, Vicem Ha Tien 1 used more than 380,000 tons of ash and slag as waste from other industries as raw materials for cement production; burning more than 80,000 tons of waste as an alternative fuel, making a great contribution to solving social and environmental problems and bringing economic efficiency of nearly 17 billion dong to the company.
