Vietnam responds to information that the US wants to upgrade the relationship into a strategic partnership

At the regular press conference on April 21, answering questions about the ambassador’s America in Vietnam Marc E. Knapper announced that he wants to upgrade the relationship with Vietnam into a strategic partner, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang said, qThe comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and the US has developed well in recent years.

After 27 years of establishing diplomatic relations, the relationship between the two countries has made great strides on the basis of mutual benefits, respecting Vietnam’s independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and political institutions.

On that basis, Vietnam wishes and is willing to cooperate with the administration of President Joe Biden to promote the two countries’ relations in depth, effectiveness and sustainability, for peace, stability, cooperation and development. in the region and in the world as well as for the benefit of the two countries and the two peoples, Ms. Hang emphasized.

Vietnam is currently preparing for Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to attend the ASEAN-US Special Summit, visit and work in the US and the United Nations.

Also at a press conference on the afternoon of April 21, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam confirmed that the US-ASEAN Special Summit, on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations, will take place on December 12-13. -5 in Washington, D.C., USA.

Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh accepted the invitation of US President Joe Biden to lead the delegation to attend the ASEAN-US Special Summit, visit and work in the US and with the United Nations.

The process of preparing for the meeting took place in accordance with the order and procedures of ASEAN. Both ASEAN and the US are looking forward to successfully organizing this event, Ms. Hang said.
