According to Reuters news agency, tThe statement was made by President Xi Jinping in a video address at the annual Boao Forum for Asia, held on Hainan Island on April 21.

“China is committed to resolving differences and disputes between countries through dialogue and consultation, supports all efforts conducive to peaceful settlement of crises, rejects double standards, and opposes the indiscriminate use of unilateral sanctions…” – Xi said.

The Chinese leader also said efforts should be made to help stabilize the global supply chain.

According to Reuters news agency, China has repeatedly criticized Western sanctions, including sanctions against Russia because of Moscow’s military campaign in Ukraine. However, in what is considered a cautious approach, Beijing is not currently providing support to the Russian campaign because support could expose Beijing to Western sanctions.

The Chinese economy is facing difficulties due to the impact of strict measures to deal with the outbreak of the Omicron variant, especially in the economic center of Shanghai.

However, in his speech at the aforementioned forum, Mr. Xi did not specifically mention the negative impacts caused by COVID-19 that are happening in China.

According to Xinhua News Agency, also in his speech at the forum, President Xi Jinping proposed a “Global Security Initiative” to promote security for all countries in the world.
