According to what Mr. Dinh recounted, he stopped cutting and washing his hair at the age of 19. Because once, he cut his hair and came home with a serious illness, his head hurt like a hammer, his body became chronically ill. The family took him to the doctor but his condition did not improve, until the hair gradually grew back, his health gradually returned to normal.
In Thanh Nien newspaper, Mr. Dinh once shared: “Strangely, when I wash my hair, my head hurts again. So I also completely stopped washing my hair, not letting my hair touch the water.”
The strangest thing is that Uncle Dinh’s hair after decades of not washing is still very clean, no bad smell, no matter where the hair grows, it braids itself. In addition, anyone touching her hair causes her head to become painful.
It is known that each year, the instrument’s hair grows by 10 cm, but strangely, only the hair on the top of the head is gray over time, while the body and the tail remain black.
Seeing that he had strange hair, Dinh thought that this was a gift from the Buddha’s fairy. In 1990, she asked her family and local authorities to move to Hue Phuoc ancient temple to practice and not get married. Since then, he became a vegetarian and got the name “Co Tu” with long hair.
Despite his advanced age, Dinh is still very sharp.
To make it easier to sit and recite Buddha’s name every day, Mr. Dinh designed a 6m-long cloth bag to store his hair. Every time she wanted to put her hair in a cloth bag, she had to ask a Buddhist to help her by slowly putting her hair in a cloth bag and curling it up a few times like a snake wrapped around her head.
Up to now, Mr. Dinh weighs only about 40 kg, but every day he carries his hair weighing up to ten pounds. However, because she had been used to having long hair on her body for many years, it was not inconvenient for her. At night, I also use it as a pillow to prop my head to sleep.
After decades of years, despite his advanced age, Mr. Dinh is still very sharp and healthy. Every day, he only eats 1 meal before 12 noon. The menu is mainly fruit and vegetables. As for the hair at the age of 85, the tail and the middle of her hair are still shiny dark brown.
