Danish businesses interested in investing in Vietnam

Welcoming Ambassador Luong Thanh Nghi to Denmark to accept his assignment, the leader of the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed his delight at the development in Vietnam – Denmark relations after more than 50 years. Denmark was one of the first Western countries to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam in 1971. In 2011, the two sides established a strategic partnership in the fields of climate change, energy, and environment. and green growth and in 2013, the two countries upgraded their relations to a Comprehensive Partnership.

Both sides are pleased to see that after more than half a century, Vietnam – Denmark relations develop in a stable, sustainable and comprehensive way, cooperate more and more substantively, in depth for the benefit of both countries.

Regarding political cooperation, the two sides regularly exchange delegations at all levels and pledge to support each other at international and regional forums such as the United Nations and United Nations organizations, the International Trade Organization. (WTO), Asia-Europe Cooperation Forum (ASEM), ASEAN-EU. The two sides also actively implemented the focus of the Vietnam – Denmark Joint Action Plan for the period 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

Regarding economic, trade and investment cooperation, the two sides have achieved many positive results, becoming a bright spot in the relationship between the two countries. In 2021, despite many impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic, the total two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and Denmark still reached US$842.37 million, up 18% compared to 2020.

In the field of investment, in 2021, Denmark has 145 enterprises investing in Vietnam with a total capital of 466.17 million USD, ranking 32nd among countries and territories investing in Vietnam. Only in the first quarter of 2022, with two newly licensed projects, including a Lego project with a scale of more than 1 billion USD, Denmark has risen to 22nd and is the third largest investor in Vietnam. in the year 2022.

Currently, Danish businesses are very interested in investing in Vietnam in areas where Denmark has strengths such as: recycled energy, agriculture, animal husbandry, food processing. The two sides committed to creating favorable conditions for businesses of the two countries to explore the market, seek cooperation and investment opportunities.

Ambassador Luong Thanh Nghi highly appreciated the results that the two sides have achieved in the past time as well as the potential in cooperation fields where the two sides have strengths such as renewable energy, agriculture, food processing, etc. green development, combating climate change, education – training. According to Ambassador Luong Thanh Nghi, the fields in which Vietnam and Denmark have strengths are complementary, so the potential for cooperation between the two countries is still very large.
