Donald Trump Jr. is scheduled to meet the House panel investigating the riots on January 6

Donald Trump Jr.eldest son of the former President Donald Trumpis expected to meet with the committee on January 6 in the coming days, a source familiar with the council’s work said on Thursday.

Lawmakers on the House panel invited Trump Jr. voluntarily speak to investigators. They did not issue subpoenas.

The final date for his appearance has yet to be scheduled. The source said the meeting will not take place this week.

An attorney for Trump Jr. did not respond to multiple requests for comment.

In December, the House committee released text messages showing Trump Jr. texted the then White House Chief of Staff. Mark Meadows during the riots on January 6, 2021, urged him to convince the president to summon the mob of Trump supporters who stormed the Capitol.

Other members of the Trump family recently appeared before the committee.
