Football legend Pele leaves hospital after cancer treatment
The Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo, Brazil’s largest city, said Pele, 81, was “in good and stable clinical condition”.
Considered by many to be the greatest player of all time, Pele is the only player in history to have won three World Cups with his home team in 1958, 1962 and 1970. Pele is known in Brazil. with the name “O Rei” or “The King”.
He will continue to visit the hospital at least once a month for check-ups and continue with chemotherapy treatment for a colon tumor discovered in September 2021, Pele’s family said.
In February, Pele fell ill and spent two weeks in the hospital being treated for a cancer complicated by a urinary tract infection.

Before being diagnosed with cancer, Pele was hospitalized for a month in 2021. The former Santos star and the Brazilian national team was hospitalized for kidney stone surgery in 2019 and a urinary tract infection in 2014.
At the time, he was on dialysis on his remaining kidney, a previous kidney that had been removed in the 1970s due to trauma.
Pele, born Edson Arantes do Nascimento, also has mobility impairments due to hip problems that require him to use a wheelchair.
