Things to pay special attention to when looking up the electronic household registration book
When you want to look up electronic household registration to give information about residence, citizens need a social insurance number. Therefore, those who have not participated in social insurance will not be able to look up.
Step 1: Visit baohiemxahoi.gov.vn, then go to the section to look up the Social Insurance code.
Step 2: Fill in the required information in the search box such as province, city; first and last name; number of people’s identity card; Year of Birth; Social Security number.
Step 3: Click on “I’m not a robot” and conduct the search.
After that, the system will return the results of basic information of citizens such as full name, date of birth, gender, place of residence, household code, etc.
According to Clause 1, Article 24 of the 2004 Residence Law, household registration books are issued to households or individuals who have registered their permanent residence and are valid for determining the permanent residence of the citizen. Household registration book is a form of household registration, which has the function of determining a citizen’s lawful permanent residence.
Currently, each citizen is given a personal identification number, printed on the CCCD card with a chip. Therefore, when going to do administrative procedures, people only need to present the card for comparison instead of using a paper household book as before. The new electronic household registration book has been integrated on the chip-mounted CCCD.
According to Clause 3, Article 38 of the Law on Residence 2020, the important milestones for the issuance and use of household registration books and temporary residence books are prescribed as follows:
– From July 1, 2021: Withdrawal of household registration book and temporary residence book in case of information change. Do not issue new household registration books and temporary residence books. The issued household registration books and temporary residence books are still used. In case the information in the household registration book or temporary residence book is different from the information in the residence database, the information in the residence database shall be used.
– From January 1, 2023: All household registration books and temporary residence books are no longer valid.
According to Decree 37/2021/ND-CP, citizens can exploit their information in the national database on population by: A written request for information; or through the messaging service, the National Public Service Portal, the Public Service Portal of the Ministry of Public Security.
