103 teams competed at the National Mathematical Olympiad for students and students

The National Mathematical Olympiad for students and students in 2022 will take place from April 23-24. This year’s exam has attracted teams from 103 universities, academies and high schools nationwide to register to participate.

Assoc.Prof.Dr.Sc. Vu Hoang Linh, Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Mathematical Association, head of the contest’s organizing committee, said that the special feature of this year’s exam is the participation of non-specialized high schools across the country.

Although the exam cannot be held in the same place, the exam is still maintained. The teams will compete on the spot, under the supervision of the camera and the organizers, and with the cross supervision of the schools through the Zoom screen.

Like in previous years, candidates who are students will participate in two independent subjects, Algebra and Calculus, with a time of 180 minutes for each subject. Candidates who are high school students will take two exams in two sessions, each 180 minutes.

The exam is built by the Jury, based on the recommendations of experts, including 4-6 small problems designed according to a thinking circuit, in order to introduce candidates to a problem of mathematics. , belonging to one of the following topics: arithmetic, geometry, algebra, calculus, combinatorics.

Within the framework of the contest, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Vu Hoang Linh said that the Organizing Committee also organized 4 lectures for high school students. The lectures are taught by experts in the field of fostering good students in high school math.

Through these activities, the exam organizers are expected to contribute to improving the quality of teaching and learning Mathematics, promoting the movement of students to learn Mathematics, and at the same time discovering and fostering good students in Mathematics in different fields. universities, colleges and institutes.

In addition, the exam will also promote the passion for Mathematics in high school students, discover and foster good students in Mathematics, as well as create opportunities for exchanges between high school students who are good at Mathematics and other students. Math lecturers at universities, colleges and institutes nationwide.

The National Mathematical Olympiad for students is an annual activity organized by the Vietnam Mathematical Association in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Training, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations and the Central Vietnam Student Association. organization.

It is expected that the conference to summarize and announce the results of the contest will take place before May 15, 2022.
