Defense Ministers of Vietnam and China hold talks to jointly build a peaceful and stable border

On the morning of April 23, General Phan Van Giang – Minister of National Defense – and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation passed through Thuy Khau international border gate, Long Chau district, Guangxi province (China), attended talks with Mr. Chinese Defense Minister Wei Fenghe.

The activity is within the framework of the 7th Vietnam – China border defense friendship exchange program.

At the meeting, the Vietnamese Minister of National Defense congratulated China on successfully organizing the 6th Plenum of the 19th Central Committee and the 5th session of the 13th Bicameral Congress.

Affirming that the Party, State, Government and People’s Army of Vietnam always attach great importance to consolidating the traditional friendship and promoting the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with China, considering this as one of the top priority in Vietnam’s foreign policy.

Thank you to the Chinese Ministry of National Defense for supporting the donation of COVID-19 vaccines to the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense.

Chinese Defense Minister Wei Phuong Hoa expressed his pleasure to welcome the Vietnamese Defense Ministry delegation to the exchange, and emphasized that over the past year, since the Vietnam border defense friendship exchange – China for the 6th time, both sides always cultivate and build a good relationship.

The 7th exchange, which took place in the context of the complicated development of the COVID-19 epidemic, was an act of showing important common awareness between the two Parties, the two States and the armies of the two countries; texpressed the high respect of the two sides, believing that these activities will definitely further consolidate the China-Vietnam friendship solidarity, increase political trust, strengthen practical cooperation, and work together building a peaceful and stable border, bringing happiness to the two peoples.

At the talks, the two sides agreed to assess that despite being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, defense cooperation between Vietnam and China has been maintained in the past time with flexible and effective forms of exchange. . The two sides also successfully organized a joint military medical exercise in December 2021 in Mong Cai City, Quang Ninh, Vietnam.

The two sides affirmed that the Vietnam-China border defense friendship exchange model has made an important contribution to promoting solidarity, friendship and cooperation between the two peoples, the two Defense Ministries and border guards. the two countries, contributing to building a border of peace, friendship, stability and development.

Regarding the direction of cooperation in the coming time, the two sides agreed to continue promoting the exchange of delegations at all levels, especially high-level delegations; effectively implement existing exchange and cooperation mechanisms, such as the deputy ministerial-level defense strategic dialogue, border defense friendship exchanges; party work, political work; cooperation between armies, armed forces, academies, schools; continue to coordinate and support each other at multilateral military and defense forums…

Continue to closely coordinate and strictly implement 3 legal documents on the land border between Vietnam and China; closely protect the border, prevent crime, illegal entry and exit, prevent epidemics from spreading across the border…

Regarding the outstanding issues between the two countries, the two sides frankly discussed and agreed to solve them from the strategic height and common interests of the two countries, by peaceful means and on the basis of international law. .

After the talks, at Ta Lung international border gate (Vietnam) a ceremony took place to welcome the Chinese Defense Minister to attend exchange activities in Vietnam.

This afternoon, held a ceremony to greet, paint milestone 943, plant friendship trees at Ta Lung Friendship Cultural Center; visit and give gifts to Ta Lung Town Primary School.

Before that, the Vietnamese military medical force examined, treated and distributed free medicines to people in Tra Linh town and Ta Lung town, Cao Bang.
