Vietnam’s No. 1 player Le Quang Liem has not had a good start in the Oslo Esports Cup chess part of the Champions Chess Tour system taking place today.
Encounter with a 9th rank player world Shakhriyar Mamedyarov (Azerbaijan) in the first match, Le Quang Liem draw the opponent in games 1, 3, 4 but the defeat in game 2 caused the Ho Chi Minh player to lose the final with a score of 1.5 – 2.5.

Oslo Esports Cup attracts 8 players including Carlsen (Norway), Shakhriyar Mamedyarov (Azerbaijan), Anish Giri (Netherlands), Duda (Poland), Jorden van Foreest (Netherlands), Praggnanandhaa (India), Eric Hansen (Canada) and Le Quang Liem.
Le Quang Liem will compete in sea Games 31 next May
The players gathered in Oslo (Norway) to compete, but in an online form on the computer, not in person, sitting facing each other on the chessboard. The players will play in a circle, each match has 4 quick games, if there is a draw, they will play blitz to determine the winner and loser. The total prize money is 210,000 USD, of which winning each match is 7,500 USD (if winning by blitz chess receives 5000 USD, the loser receives 2,500 USD).
In game 2, which took place late tonight, Le Quang Liem faced the reigning number 1 in the world – chess king Carlsen. After this top tournament, Quang Liem will return home to compete at the 31st SEA Games where he is expected to win 4-5 gold medals with the Vietnamese chess team.
