According to Reuters news agency (UK), the above information was provided by Dmitry Rogozin, the head of the Space Agency Russia Roscosmos, deliver.
In an interview with Russian television, Rogozin said that the Sarmat missile will be deployed with a unit in the Krasnoyarsk region of Siberia, about 3,000 km east of Moscow.
He said the Sarmat missile will be located in the same location and in the same bunker that used to contain Voyevoda missiles from the Soviet era. This saves “huge time and resources”.
Plans to deploy the Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile this fall is an ambitious goal as Russia says it has only conducted its first test launch with the missile.
Western military experts say that more tests are needed before the Sarmat can be deployed.
The Sarmat missile is capable of carrying 10 nuclear warheads and simultaneously hitting targets thousands of kilometers away in the US or Europe.
The Russian Defense Ministry announced this week that it had successfully tested the first Sarmat missile in the Arkhangelsk region after years of delay due to funding and technical problems, the Tass news agency reported. The ministry claims the Sarmat is the most powerful missile, with the longest range in the world.
The test marks a show of Russian might, at a time when hostilities in Ukraine have sent tensions between Russia and the United States and its allies soaring to their highest levels since the Cuban missile crisis in 2016. 1962.
