Russia claims to control Ukraine’s thousands of tons of ammunition

The Russian Defense Ministry said its forces had taken control of an arsenal containing thousands of tons of ammunition in Kharkov, eastern Ukraine.

“During the special military operation, the Russian engineering forces took control of the arsenal of Ukraine on an area of ​​hundreds of hectares, containing thousands of tons of ammunition in the Kharkov region,” the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement on April 22.

They say the arsenal contains ammunition for multiple rocket launchers with cluster warheads. “These are the types of ammunition that Ukrainian forces use to bombard densely populated areas, endangering civilians,” the Defense Ministry said. Russia The warehouse also contains ammunition for infantry guns, conventional artillery, weapons of air defense systems and many grenades.

“In addition to Soviet-made ammunition, the depot also holds Western-made mines and artillery shells,” the statement read.

The Russian Defense Ministry also today claimed to have shot down a Su-25 plane and destroyed three Ukrainian MI-8 helicopters at an airfield in the Kharkov region.

The Ukrainian side has not commented on the Russian information.
