The mystery of the sacred well “wishes to see” and the name no one dares to call

Treasures Ancient Wells

In Nghe village (Van Hoa commune, Ba Vi, Hanoi), it has long been famous near and far for an ancient well that is considered a treasure of the village but has a name that makes anyone blush. When the reporter asked for directions to the ancient well, which is considered a treasure of the Nghe village people, the locals all enthusiastically showed the way with a smile: “Going to ask for water again?”.

The ancient well of Nghe village was named after the Muong language Po Che, which translates into Kinh language as a sensitive place for a girl. When being led here, PV was also surprised because the shape of the well was exactly what the villagers said.

In the middle of the sloping land of the tall shady garden, suddenly emerged a rock about 30m2 wide. Right in the middle of that rock is a stream of water flowing up from the mountain. Either way, everyone must be startled by the name and shape of the well.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai, a resident near the ancient well, told the reporter above about anecdotes related to the well that have been attached to the people of Nghe village for many generations.

“In the past, mainly Muong people lived here, so the well was named after the Muong language, Po Che, which translates into Kinh means a girl’s pussy. We are Kinh people, so we often call the well “sound well”. I don’t know when the well existed, just know that the villagers often go to the well to get drinking water when the house well runs out. The well is considered as a village well attached to the daily life of the people. Only when scientists did the research did we know that the well has important historical significance,” Hai told the messenger.

From time immemorial, the elders of Nghe village have told their descendants about the legend of Po Che well. Legend has it that the well is a part of princess Ngoc Hoa (daughter of the 18th Hung King, married to Son Tinh). This marriage led to a long-standing feud between Son Tinh and Thuy Tinh (the water god also proposed to Princess Ngoc Hoa). After the wedding, the mountain god Son Tinh brought Princess Ngoc Hoa to live in her native region (now Ba Vi land).

Although the well has a sensitive name translated into Kinh, but because that name has been ingrained in the minds of the villagers, no matter how many times he tried to change the name, it was unsuccessful. If you can’t change it, you have to accept the “legacy” of the ancients, have to call it as the old people still call it, even though every time you see it… blushing.

Nguyen Thi Meo, a native of Nghe village, is more than 90 years old this year, but extremely lucid. He told PV VTC News many childhood memories related to Po Che well.

Mr. Tip also added that no one in the village knew when the well existed. Just know that the Muong people who settled here thousands of years ago told their descendants that they were born with that well.

Well “the bridge is wished to see”?

Now, Nghe village no longer has old forests, but the trees are still lush and luxuriant. The village’s terrain is very beautiful. Once a feng shui master passed here said that the village at the foot of this sacred mountain is the convergence of the four directions of East, West, South and North. Next to the top of the mountain, the Da River flows through, that is the land of mountains and water, charming. The well at the beginning of this village is the sacred circuit of the other Tan mountain range. Therefore, if anyone fills it in, it will affect the dragon veins of the whole region.

I don’t know if the feng shui master’s words are correct, but regardless of whether a resident settles in this village, he considers that well a sacred land, not daring to change the status quo and encroach on the land. .

The most special thing about Po Che well is that the well always has water. Regardless of the rainy season or the dry season, whether the water wells of the people in the village are dry in drought years or the water in the rivers and lakes around the region is inert, Po Che well still has a source of murmuring water flowing out clear and sweet. strange.

Over time, people also spread the word about the healing effects of sacred well water. They believe that drinking the cool, clear well water here gives a feeling of refreshment and comfort, the drinker is not only healthy and resistant to diseases but also has good luck in life.

On the day the reporter came to inquire, she met Ms. Tran Huyen M. (Gia Lam, Hanoi) who was performing a ceremony at Po Che well, she said: “I have an acquaintance here who introduced the very sacred Po Che well, I asked for a wish, so I went up to visit and asked for some well water to pray for children. My husband and I have been married for 5 years but have not had children. We have been seeking treatment everywhere without success. It is said that women drink water from wells when they drink. This will work”.

The anecdotes surrounding the ancient well of Po Che for the people of Ba Vi, no one can confirm the truth, but this is a real priceless natural asset that nature has bestowed on them. Po Che well with an endless underground water flow, flowing year-round helps people overcome each drought, ensuring a source of drinking and living water for the whole village.
