Woman dies after breast augmentation at Saigon Kangnam Cosmetic Hospital

On the evening of April 22, Ms. Le Thien Quynh Nhu, Deputy Chief of the Office of the Health Department of Ho Chi Minh City, confirmed the case, a 61-year-old woman died after breast fat transplant surgery at Kangnam Cosmetic Hospital Saigon.

According to Ms. Nhu, the Department of Health inspectors are coordinating with functional forces to check and clarify the case.

Initial information shows that a female customer named L. (living in District 1) went to Kangnam Saigon Cosmetic Hospital (Tan Binh District) for a pre-operative examination and was scheduled to perform breast fat transplantation 1 day later.

On the day of surgery, Ms. L. had difficulty breathing and received medical assistance. Then transferred from Saigon Kangnam Cosmetic Hospital to Cho Ray Hospital to continue resuscitation. However, the patient died on the afternoon of April 20.

The Tan Binh District Public Security Agency, the inspector of the Department of Health coordinated to check and seal the medical records, requesting the establishment to suspend plastic surgery operations until the investigation concludes.
