The woman went to Saigon Kangnam Hospital for breast fat transplant surgery on April 20, and during the anesthetic process, she showed signs of respiratory failure. Kangnam’s representative said that they asked Cho Ray Hospital to assist in emergency treatment of the patient.
According to Dr. Pham Thanh Viet, Head of Integrated Planning Department, Cho Ray Hospital, when receiving information about “patient in severe shock”, doctors from both hospitals consulted and decided to intervene ECMO (artificial cardiopulmonary device). ). Cho Ray’s team of doctors brought the ECMO machine to Kangnam to intervene for the patient, then transferred to Cho Ray Hospital for further treatment.
Because the condition was too severe, progressed quickly, the patient died the same afternoon. “Clinically, it is possible that the cause of death is anaphylaxis, but the final conclusion must wait for the expert panel and authorities to determine,” said Dr. Viet.
Doctor Le Thien Quynh Nhu, Deputy Chief of the Office of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, said that the Department Inspector and functional forces are checking and verifying the case.
