Add a toll-free data line that doesn’t stop before April 30

Vietnam Infrastructure Development and Financial Investment Corporation (Vififi) is required before April 30 to install more wireless transmission lines to collect non-stop tolls on the Hanoi – Hai Phong highway.

On April 25, Mr. To Nam Toan, Director of Environmental Science, Technology and International Cooperation (Directorate for Roads of Vietnam), said that he had made the above proposal to Vififi. The investor needs to add a fiber optic line to Hai Phong and a wireless (4G) line connecting to a non-stop toll collection (ETC) service provider to ensure stable operation and avoid repetition. cable breaks, disrupting toll collection, causing congestion on the Hanoi – Hai Phong highway as on April 24.

According to Mr. Toan, like other highways, the fiber optic cable for data transmission to collect internally on the Hanoi – Hai Phong highway is built along the route, integrated with the intelligent traffic system ITS. If building an additional optical fiber transmission line will be expensive. During construction, the wireless data transmission line has not been developed yet, so investors have not made a backup for this option.

Ms. Bui Thi Quynh, deputy director of the Hanoi – Hai Phong Auto Expressway Management and Operation Company (belonging to Vidifi), said that the unit is implementing an additional transmission line from the toll station at the end of the route (at the beginning of Hai Phong). ) to the Back-end at the VETC toll collection center for backup in case the cable breaks or loses connection on the Hanoi side. This is a class 1 fallback.

In addition, the enterprise is studying to add 4G wireless connection in transmitting ETC toll signals at tollgate stations (layer 2 redundancy) to ensure the continuity of the ETC toll collection system. These are also the plans assigned by the Directorate for Roads of Vietnam to implement.

The Hanoi – Hai Phong Expressway is currently designed with an internal fiber optic cable system of 72 fibers, with a bandwidth of 10Gbps, with a length of more than 110 km running along the route, connecting data from toll stations to the Operation Center (CMO). to transmit all intelligent traffic system data, including non-stop toll collection.

From the Operation Center (located in Gia Lam, Hanoi), the data is transferred to the Toll Collection Center of the Automatic Toll Collection Company (VETC) via two telecommunication lines (one main line and one backup line). . However, the station at the end of the line (at the beginning of Hai Phong) does not have a connection to the center of VETC.

On May 24, the internal fiber optic cable for internal data transmission on the Hanoi – Hai Phong highway was broken, affecting both toll collection in the mixed lane and without stopping on the entire route. Vehicles have to queue for 2-3 km waiting to pay at the station.

Hanoi – Hai Phong Expressway, built in 2008, completed in 2015, is the first highway in the country with 6 lanes, 2 emergency stop lanes, with many safety monitoring equipment according to technology. New, modern.
