On the afternoon of April 25, Ha Tinh Provincial Youth Union held a meeting to praise and award certificates of merit to Nguyen Van Duong, a student of class 8D, Minh Lac Junior High School, Cam Xuyen district for his brave actions to save 2 little friends from drowning.

At the meeting, Deputy Secretary of Ha Tinh Provincial Youth Union Nguyen Ny Huong recognized and praised Nguyen Van Duong’s brave spirit to save lives; At the same time, he asked all levels of the Youth Union and Team to spread his good deeds, continue to actively organize propaganda activities, equip skills drowning prevention for children, especially in the run-up to summer.

Previously, on April 23, two children, Vo Thanh Anh and Le Thanh Dung (6th graders, living in Hamlet 9, Cam Minh commune, Cam Xuyen district, Ha Tinh) due to a prank, unfortunately, they slipped and fell. down to the N1 canal, the section passing through the area of ​​Hamlet 5, Cam Minh commune. At that time, Nguyen Van Duong was studying at home, heard the cry for help and ran out and jumped into the canal to pull the two children up. After retrieving two children ashore, with the knowledge and skills gained in drowning prevention and control, Duong together with local people did chest compressions and artificial respiration, thus saving the lives of two children.

Before Nguyen Van Duong’s courageous act to save lives, Ha Tinh Provincial Youth Union is completing a proposal to the Central Youth Union to award him the “Brave Youth” Badge.
