Is it really the “stepchild” of the LoL village?

On April 24, the final match VCS Spring 2022 has officially started with the confrontation between GAME Esports and Saigon Buffalo. Result, GAM Officially crowned champion with 100% unbeaten record. However, because GAM is already the representative team of Vietnam at SEA Games 31 coming soon, so SGB will replace the yellow – black shirt team to attend MSI 2022 held in Busan, Korea next May.

SGB will represent VCS at MSI 2022

Of course, as usual, the social media page of Riot for the subject League of Legends will have to post congratulating the team on winning the domestic tournament, along with an announcement of the name that will attend MSI 2022 (or Worlds, if it’s Summer). But this time, Riot’s social media page for League of Legends was completely silent. And this made the VCS community angry and indignant.

The VCS community is frustrated and confused by Riot’s silence

It is important to know that posting announcements about which team won the domestic championship and attending international events is a natural thing and extremely familiar to the worldwide LoL community. More than just an announcement, this also contributes to helping teams in small areas, the “low-lying” areas of the world League of Legends village be more widely known. What makes the VCS community angry with Riot, the reason is that neither teams like Team Aze (Latin America region) or DetonatioN FocusMe (Japan region) – which cannot compare with VCS in terms of age as well as software. which is the level, still received a congratulatory message from Riot.

Teams in regions that are even weaker than VCS like Team Aze and DetonatioN FocusMe are still congratulated.

There are many opinions that it may be due to the influence of SEA Games 31 that makes Riot confused. Because, the VCS Spring 2022 champion, GAM, could not attend MSI 2022. Meanwhile, the second-placed team was replaced by SGB, so Riot did not have any appropriate notification method.

There is a widely agreed opinion that Riot has some problems, so it hasn’t updated the congratulations to VCS

But this may in fact be just an excuse for Riot’s seeming to “forget” VCS. Because, the fact that GAM could not attend MSI 2022 because of the 31st SEA Games schedule, Garena certainly had to inform Riot. Moreover, posting an announcement with 2 separate sections congratulating GAM on the championship as well as welcoming SGB to MSI 2022, with a brief explanation line is enough for the community to fully understand the problem. But Riot did not do anything.

Maybe, VCS has been away from international events for too long, and now this area is “abandoned” by Riot. But according to many VCS fans, this can be a great motivation, for SGB to play more determinedly at the upcoming MSI 2022, regaining the position of VCS in the eyes of the international LoL community and especially with Riot itself.
