Behind the scenes of the super epic action of the blockbuster “578”
Having been behind the action scenes of the world famous movie series such as “Snowpierce”, “Avengers: Age of Ultron”, “All of Us Are Dead”, won the “Martial Arts Directing” award. excellent” at the Blue Dragon Awards, Oh Sea Young still has to admit that the action scenes of “578”, especially in Dinh Vu port, are a difficulty in his career and this director also once said 578 is “the most dangerous action movie”.
This is a large port area like a matrix of nearly 20,000 square meters with more than ten thousand containers. Dinh Vu port is also a sea border, in addition to port security and management, the port is also managed by border guards, so entering and leaving the port is very complicated, requiring the use of name cards and facial recognition. .
When director Luong Dinh Dung asked to bring the main character into the port area with tens of thousands of containers to stage a great battle, many people thought this was an impossible request. Fortunately, the film crew received support from the Dinh Vu scene management, who were allowed to use 4 specialized forklifts, each worth more than 1 million USD during the filming process and only for transportation. Lifting and stacking containers according to the director’s layout plan.
The Korean Action Director was so surprised that “578” could enter such a large port. In the world, entering the filming port is also extremely difficult because it is expensive. If renting the context separately, renting containers and container trucks at the market price is about nearly 7 billion VND, and calculating the cost, on average, it costs nearly 1 billion VND per day. The crew planned to shoot within 10 days, but in the end the time was doubled.
Nearly 20 days of filming in inclement weather, major staged scenes with the coordination of nearly 300 actors and crews, almost every day members were injured and many people were hospitalized. The filming time lasted from 6 pm the previous day to 4-6 am the next day, but in order to film, the crew had to come and prepare from 2 or 3 pm.
Not only that, Luong Dinh Dung also asked the characters to immerse themselves in the water, under the heavy rain when performing the fight scenes to increase the feeling of darkness and danger. This makes things ten times more difficult. In order to serve the rainy scenes, many complex rain systems were mobilized, each day the crew had to use up to 20,000 – 30,000 liters of water.
The weather when filming the big harbor action scene was about 8-10 degrees, freezing cold, sea breeze, night shooting and rain. This has a very negative effect on the health and well-being of both the actors and the entire crew. Many nights, the crew could only shoot 2 big scenes, the actor’s condition went down causing the whole filming of the whole crew to stop.
At 3 am, 8 degrees Celsius, H’Hen Niê’s feet, martial artist Tuan Hac shivered because it was too cold to turn. H’Hen Niê had to say: “I’m so scared. I’m obsessed with the cold, I’m obsessed with water. When I come back, I don’t dare to take a bath. When I turn on the water but the water is not hot, I don’t dare touch it. I always have to say to myself: Try, try. come on, come on…”. Director Luong Dinh Dung was sorry to see the actor soaked in the rain in cold weather, but the job still had to be work. The actors, when reviewing the scene, also had to admit that it was Luong Dinh Dung’s strictness that helped them complete the job in the best way.
“578: Shot of a madman” is a journey to seek revenge and regain justice for the father’s young daughter named Hung. On the journey of hunting and being chased “alone alone”, the father realizes that he is not only confronting an evil but also a dark force behind.
The movie is labeled C18+ for people over 18 years old. Director Luong Dinh Dung said, this is inevitable because the action scenes of the film can contain up to 91% of violent action scenes. The film sets a release date for Vietnamese audiences on May 20, 2022, the beginning of the summer season suitable for the exciting action series.
