The two most expensive license plates in the world belong to the same person, one was bought in 2008, and the other was just bought in 2021.

At an auction in Dubai in 2016, the “D5” sign sold for $9 million and belonged to Balwinder Shani, an Indian businessman. This number plate is attached to a super luxury Rolls-Royce.

On April 15, the “AA8” plate sold for the highest amount at an auction in Dubai, where many other beautiful license plates also have new owners. License plates F55 and V66 both cost $1.08 million, and license plates Y66 cost $1.03 million.

“AA9” – 10 million USD

On May 1, 2021, businessman Saeed Abdul Ghaffar Khouri paid $ 10 million to own the license plate “AA9”. This license plate was later attached to a Mansory-tuned Rolls-Royce.

Businessman Saeed Abdul Ghafour Khouri was also the one who paid nearly 14.3 million USD for the number plate “1” at the auction at a 7-star hotel in Abu Dhabi in 2008. At that time, the starting price was only 280,000 USD, and Saeed won the auction with an amount of about 50 times.

The number plate “1” is attached to the Pagani Zonda F Roadster model – a supercar that costs about $ 1.4 million. That means license plates are worth 10 times more than supercars.
