Before the end of the training trip in Hungary, Huy Hoang broke the record in the 400m freestyle event set by himself at the 30th SEA Games. The fisherman from Quang Binh achieved 3 minutes 49 seconds 06, breaking the record set by he held at the 30th SEA Games in the Philippines was 3 minutes 49 seconds 08. This is not a surprising result as the swimmer born in 2000 has a knack for the middle and long distance freestyle swimming events.

In the training tournament in Hungary, Gianh Huy Hoang River “otter” did not participate in two forte distances of 800m and 1,500m. The fisherman from Quang Binh is holding the best parameters in Asia at these two distances when topping the group of Asian athletes at the 2020 Olympics. In addition, Huy Hoang also participated in the 200m butterfly content with a parameter of 2 minutes 00 seconds 52.

After this training tournament, Huy Hoang and the Vietnamese swimming team returned to the country on April 22. The goal of Vietnamese swimming at the 31st SEA Games is to win 6-8 gold medals.
