14 students in the same class in Hanoi scored IELTS 7.0 or higher

In the first test, 14 students of class 9C1 (English major) had IELTS test results of 7.0 or higher. 8/14 students got from 8.0 points (3 students got 8.5 points).

Previously, Nguyen Trang and Tue Anh, two students in the class, achieved IELTS test results above 7.5. Specifically, Nguyen Trang achieved 8.0 IELTS when she was an 8th grader. Tue Anh got 7.0 IELTS from 7th grade.

“IELTS international English certificate is not added to students’ transfer test scores, so the school only encourages students to study and take this test to develop their own skills comprehensively, it is not compulsory. I often get high results thanks to self-practice combined with the knowledge learned in class.”Ms. Vu Thi Dieu Huong, English teacher, homeroom of class 9C1, said.

Communicating in class in English

Ms. Huong said that right from the 8th and 9th grade, students have access to the IELTS international English certificate at an early recognition level. In addition to the regular curriculum, class 9C1 also has 2 intensive lessons, interweaving basic knowledge with IELTS Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing skills.

The school encourages students to take the IELTS test to develop comprehensive skills. From the results achieved by the students, Ms. Huong and the school will orient and give advice to students to strive for, and plan to continue to develop English skills at high school level.

During the learning process, class 9C1 regularly has activities to practice English skills such as dubbing movies, filming vlogs, and giving presentations. In addition to classroom lessons, at home, students will practice skills and learn more related knowledge. They also often communicate in English while at school.

“To achieve this achievement, they all tried to study in a long process, not a natural one, day one, day two. 14 of you have not studied through any IELTS course outside the school at all. They have studied and practiced a lot by themselves because English is their passion.”Ms. Huong said.

Dang Mai Thai Hoang is one of 3 students in class 9C1 with 8.5 IELTS results. In which, Hoang achieved a perfect score (9.0 points) in Reading and Listening skills; 8.0 points in Writing skill and 8.5 points in Speaking skill. The male student, like other students in the class, loves and spends a lot of time in English.

Hoang’s learning method is to regularly watch and listen to his favorite programs in English. To develop his own vocabulary, Hoang reads and learns new words on different topics.

For learning Speaking skill, male students think that the best way is to practice with a native speaker or a Vietnamese to achieve the same results as a native speaker. Through social networking sites, Hoang has reached out to foreigners and learned more about their culture.

Learning IELTS must follow a process

Ms. Huong said that one of the secrets for many 9C1 students to achieve high IELTS scores is the learning curve to improve the students’ level.

The female teacher shared that most of the students in the class have good grades and are at the top of the school. Many of you have the ability to “surpass” your teachers in English. In order for the class to progress and develop better skills, Ms. Huong has identified herself as a guide and resource for students.

“In class, the students all have good sensitivity, fast skills and listen to English a lot. Most importantly, teachers have to orient and give advice on study materials and English resources for students to learn. learn more. Many teachers have taken IELTS to support students more effectively”, Ms. Huong said.

According to the female teacher, the IELTS exam sooner or later depends on the learners’ level. Class 9C1 achieves high results by accumulating enough knowledge in a long and continuous process.

“Students who already have a certain amount of knowledge at a certain threshold can only need to review for a period of 1, 2 months or half a year to develop more skills such as Speaking and Writing. Many students can do it on their own. practice these skills. Then, learning IELTS will achieve its purpose and do not cost much.” Ms. Huong said.

The female teacher advises parents to grasp their child’s English level before making a decision for their child to prepare for the IELTS exam. Ms. Huong said that if students only approach English in class with a certain number of periods, without supplementary lessons, parents should not force their children to study at the center to try to get IELTS. This will lead to high costs and inaccessibility for students because of the large amount of knowledge.
