Previously, in March, the Tax Department of Vung Tau – Con Dao area and the Tax Department of Ba Ria – Vung Tau province blocked the accounts of Vung Tau Paradise joint venture. The reason is that this joint venture still owes land rent and taxes in the amount of more than 1,000 billion VND.
After the blockade, this joint venture has not yet paid the above amount, so the tax authority enforces it. These tax enforcement decisions are effective for 30 days, from today – April 26.
Vung Tau Paradise Joint Venture Company was established in April 1991, is a joint venture between Vung Tau International Tourism Company (Vietnam) and Paradise Development and Investment Company (Taiwan).
The establishment license was issued by the State Committee for Cooperation and Investment (now the Ministry of Planning and Investment).
The Vietnamese company was assigned a land plot in a prime location of Vung Tau city with an area of 220 hectares in Back Beach to contribute capital with foreign investors and invest in the project “Vung Tau Paradise tourist area”.
The goal of the project is to build a cultural, sports and tourism area in the areas of Hang Duong, Thuy Van, and Back Beach of Vung Tau city.

Total project investment amounted to more than 97 million USD, of which legal capital was nearly 62 million USD. The Vietnamese side contributed nearly 15.5 million USD with the value of the right to use 220ha of coastal land for 25 years.
According to a representative of the Tax Department, this unit must make a coercive decision against Vung Tau Paradise Joint Venture Company because the company above owes land rent for too long, in addition to being overdue for tax debt. Therefore, the unit must recover the above amounts.
