70 sketches that faithfully recreate the war in the South
The exhibition “Scribbles of the Southern Resistance” introduces to the public 70 sketches (collected by the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts) that were created directly on the battlefields of the South during the 1954-1975 period.
The materials and content of the sketches on display are extremely rich. At the same time, this thematic exhibition is also an opportunity to pay tribute to the soldier-artist who contributed to the nation’s national defense war, brought peace to the country and honored the artists. Artist has contributed intellectually to thicken the page of Vietnamese history with art.
According to many fine art experts, art for painters and soldiers has become a sharp and effective weapon to depict the life and battle of our army and people during the fierce war years. Thousands of sketches have been born that have become true proofs of history, expressing the Vietnamese people’s aspiration for peace, justice and national heroism.
The sketches of the resistance war in the South contain both simple and great content, not carrying the cruel and antagonistic nature of the war, perhaps this is the outstanding difference of the sketches of the Vietnam battlefield.
