Police and newly erected barricades in Beijing have restricted who can leave the blockade area as city authorities work to prevent a large outbreak of the Covid-19 epidemic. According to Reuters and AP news agencies, three-quarters of Beijing’s 22 million residents on April 26 lined up for Covid-19 testing.

Beijing health officials on the afternoon of April 26 said that in the previous 24 hours, 22 more cases were detected, bringing the total number of patients to 92 since an outbreak was detected 5 days ago. The number of infected people in Beijing is quite low compared to Shanghai. In Beijing, there have been no deaths from the new outbreak.

Initial announcement about testing Covid-19 in Beijing’s densely populated district sparked a wave of hoarding shopping in the city earlier this week. However, the situation has calmed down. Public transport is operating normally and the roads are still packed with commuters.

“I’m not worried about Beijing running short of goods, so I don’t plan to hoard them,” said Zhang Yifan, a resident going to a Covid-19 test site in Dongcheng district. blind storage, which can cause shortages of goods.”

Beijing on April 25 added a large place to the no-go zone. Workers have erected blue metal fences along the area, and police limit the number of people who can leave. Residents are also asked to stay inside their property.
