Collection and treatment of waste related to COVID-19 patients are still limited

Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Truong Son stated that in the process of fighting the epidemic, many facilities that collect, isolate and treat people infected with COVID-19 appear to be overloaded with medical waste and infectious waste. due to not being taken to treatment.

In the community, with about 87% of COVID-19 cases being treated at home and accommodation, a large amount of infectious waste has been generated, but the collection and treatment are still limited. Even many families have not yet distinguished and classified infectious waste and domestic waste.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Truong Son assessed that in the current epidemic situation, the isolation and treatment of people infected with COVID-19 accounts for a very large proportion, so it is necessary to review the guidelines, increase training and support. assist people in sorting infectious waste; supplementing the plan for collection, transportation and treatment of infectious waste at home, with inspection and supervision to prevent the spread of pathogens to the community…
