Detecting 60-year-old fast food bag still intact
A man was surprised to find a 60-year-old McDonald’s meal in the wall of his bathroom while renovating.
The 60-year-old meal did not leave any flavor behind.
Rob, who lives in Illinois, USA, shared a photo of his discovery on the Reddit forum. The photo shows three old McDonald’s paper packages and even a half-empty box of chips.
When asked about the smell of the food, Rob replied that there was “no smell at all and, surprisingly, no trace of rats”.
Rob said he found the chips while renovating the bathroom and kitchen. “While removing a fixture in the bathroom, I noticed a piece of cloth stuck behind the plaster and pulled it out for my wife to see.”
“It was rolled up, and we knew there was something else inside. When we opened it, we found old paper bags and McDonald’s fries. We were surprised.”
Images on these bags show a mascot holding signs reading “I’m faster” and “custom burgers”.
A previous article in 2016 shared similar images of McDonald’s packaging from 1955 to 1961.
“Our house was built in 1959,” says Rob. “It’s very close to a McDonald’s here so I assume the bags are from the people who built the house.”
One Reddit commenter joked that Rob was “officially an archaeologist”.
