Ho Chi Minh City stops all mobile medical stations, closes the 3-storey field hospital

At an online meeting on the socio-economic situation of Ho Chi Minh City on the afternoon of April 26, Mr. Tang Chi Thuong, Director of the Department of Health, said that the Covid-19 epidemic in the area is going down very clearly. Regarding the epidemic level, there are currently 4/312 wards and communes at level 2, the rest at level 1.

He cited, the number of cases in TP is always below 100 cases/day with 100% Omicron mutation. The number of treatment cases at home and in hospitals is more than 5,000, and there are only nearly 400 patients at the hospital. The good news is that the number of invasive mechanical ventilation cases decreased very low with 23 patients.

“For the past 18 consecutive days, Ho Chi Minh City has had no deaths from Covid-19. It can be said that the epidemic situation is at a really reassuring stage,” said Mr. Tang Chi Thuong. Hospitals to collect treatment facilities after the April 30 holiday.

More than 500 mobile medical stations in Ho Chi Minh City during the peak of the epidemic have completed their missions.

Specifically, mobile medical stations will stop working completely in May 2022, the specific date is decided by the acupoint districts. Mr. Thuong said, each mobile station will manage 100 F0 isolated at home, but currently there are only under 20 cases/station. Therefore, mobile medical stations are no longer needed.

In addition, there are no more severe cases in 3-storey field hospitals, so the city only maintains 1 facility, closing the other 2 facilities. Tan Binh multi-storey Covid-19 treatment hospital also stopped working on the 3rd floor (the heaviest floor – managed by Thong Nhat Hospital). The district field hospital can be maintained for a while if there is no urgent need to return the facility.

Regarding vaccination for children from 5-11 years old, the city has administered 172,779 shots out of a total of nearly 900,000 children, reaching 19%. Every day, there are an average of 140 injection sites in schools with more than 300 teams performing vaccinations. TP does not inject massively because safety is the number one priority.

According to Mr. Tang Chi Thuong, although the adverse events after injection did occur, they were detected early and treated promptly thanks to careful preparation. Up to now, District 1, Tan Binh District, Phu Nhuan District and Can Gio District have not recorded any cases.

Thuong emphasized, the US CDC has just announced that children aged 5-11 years old after receiving the Covid-19 vaccine can get sick, but the hospitalization rate is reduced by half compared to children who have not been vaccinated. In Ho Chi Minh City, the vaccination was officially implemented from April 16.

Also at the conference, the Director of the Department of Health said that the situation of dengue fever in the area is very alarming. By week 15 of 2022, the city had 4,500 cases with 109 severe cases. The two cases of dengue who died were a young child and a pregnant woman.
