On a global scale, China is a big market for electric vehicles in general. One of the reasons why the electric vehicle market in China is so large is believed to be the government’s support, which makes the development and popularization of electric vehicles here relatively easy and convenient.
One of the recently launched outstanding models is the GAC Aion LX – an electric SUV with the Plus version with a travel distance of up to 1008km per charge.

About Aion, this is an electric vehicle brand under Guangzhou Automobile Corporation (GAC) Group (roughly translated as .). Guangzhou Automobile Group). Currently, the Aion brand is providing the market with 5 electric SUV and sedan models.
Last November, GAC Aion introduced an SUV model called LX. Until now, the Plus version of the LX model will also be equipped with the company’s fast charging technology, along with the ability to travel 1000km per charge. It is worth noting that the Plus version uses the same battery pack as the previous LX generation.
Previously, GAC Aion did not mention the price; However, recently, this car company has started selling this model in the domestic market, so other information about equipment or price has also begun to “reveal”.

The automaker says that the GAC Aion LX Plus model will be equipped with a very large capacity battery pack, up to 144.4kWh and have an energy density of 205kW/kg, making the best version of the car portable. up to 1008km per charge; thanks to that, the company claims that this LX Plus model is “the world’s largest commercial vehicle with the largest travel distance”.
The interesting thing here is that the above battery parameters come from today’s common batteries instead of the solid-state batteries that many car manufacturers and many technology companies in the world are still in the process of research. However, the travel distance of the above model is measured according to the NEDC standard – which is considered less stringent than the US EPA standard.
It is known that the NEDC standard (roughly translated as the European Driving Cycle) is quite similar to the WLTP standard when it is tested for the needs of traveling in inner and suburban areas according to the driving style of Europeans. The NEDC standard is usually measured by a variety of machines and sensors, performed in the laboratory under ideal conditions; NEDC tests are conducted based on usage habits and operating methods in many areas with different traffic characteristics.

Currently, the 1008km version of GAC Aion LX Plus has been sold on the market with a converted price of about 72,300 USD, equivalent to more than 1.6 billion VND.
Commenting on this model, the electric car website Electrek expressed doubts about the actual travel distance of this model; What will be the outcome when the model is tested to a sub-standard other than the NEDC. In addition, this site also compares with an American electric car model, which is the Dream Edition Lucid Air model (the most advanced version), with a travel distance of only about 836km despite the price of up to hundreds of thousands. USD, while the above Chinese model has a price tag of just over $70,000.
However, while many Chinese car brands such as Great Wall or NIO have expressed their ambition to go global, Aion has made no move to show that it wants to sell cars to the world; Therefore, it can be said that this GAC Aion LX Plus model is only a domestic product.
