Le Tu Chinh had to undergo surgery, unable to attend the 31st SEA Games

Le Tu Chinh is an excellent athlete of the Vietnamese track and field team and is nicknamed the “Queen of Speed” by fans. Before that, she won both 100m and 200m gold medals at the 29th SEA Games in 2017.

At the 30th SEA Games in 2019 in the Philippines, Le Tu Chinh tried to overcome athlete Marie Knott (a naturalized American competing for the Philippine track and field team) to win the 100m gold medal with a time of 11 seconds 54.

At the upcoming SEA Games 31, Tu Chinh is also the golden hope of Vietnamese sports, however, on the evening of April 26, General Secretary of the Vietnam Athletics Federation Nguyen Manh Hung said: “Le Tu Chinh was injured. , officially did not attend the 31st SEA Games. Chinh’s absence from the SEA Games this time affects the gold medal target of the Vietnamese delegation because Chinh is the defending 100m women’s champion.

Coach Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong said that she planned to go with her student Le Tu Chinh to Hanoi from May 5, 2022 to prepare for the 31st SEA Games and had registered for two events of 100m and 200m. However, Tu Chinh suffered a knee injury a few weeks ago while practicing at the National Sports Training Center in Ho Chi Minh City. After going to the doctor, the girl born in 1997 was prescribed urgent treatment.

Specifically, Tu Chinh suffered a meniscus injury in his right knee. Through an MRI scan, the doctors agreed that she had to perform surgery immediately to remove the broken bone fragments lying in the pillow.

Unable to attend the 31st SEA Games, Tu Chinh needs to be treated immediately to have time to recover to prepare for the upcoming tournaments that Vietnamese sports will attend: Asiad 19 next September in Hangzhou, China; The 32nd SEA Games will take place in May 2023 in Cambodia.

If the surgery is done soon, Tu Chinh’s recovery will be faster and she can soon return to practice. This year Tu Chinh is 25 years old, she still has enough time to practice and reach even higher heights in her career.
