Public opinion about Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter

The fact that a social network has hundreds of millions of users like Twitter is under the control of the individual is raising concerns about the control of this social networking site.

Billionaire Elon Musk confirmed, the purchase of Twitter is not aimed at the business aspect. Elon Musk wants to take control so that he can make the Twitter algorithm open source and increase transparency with users. He also wants a softer content management policy, limiting indefinite usage bans and moving to short-term ones.

Of course, this freedom is also controversial. The US government has made it clear that it will not let this acquisition affect regulations that control social networks.

Jen Psaki – White House Press Secretary – said: “It doesn’t matter who owns or operates Twitter. President Biden has long noted the power of the major social media platforms and held that technology platforms are responsible for the harms caused they cause”.

Even Twitter users are divided on the question of whether Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter is a good thing.

Jochen Ahlswede, a German resident, said: “I think freedom has boundaries, and I’m not sure if Elon Musk is the person who should define these boundaries for a giant platform like Twitter.”.

Following the acquisition, Twitter will become a private company and will no longer trade its shares on any stock exchanges.
