Flattening the land given to him by his father-in-law to grow vegetables, Moc Chau’s mother ensures that Moc Chau has a wonderful 150m2 garden

Blessed by nature with favorable climatic and soil conditions, the land of Moc Chau (Son La) is the “cradle” of many specialty fruit trees such as strawberries, plums, peaches, etc. filled with fruits that make many tourists fascinated. Perhaps that’s why the private vegetable gardens here are also enchanting.

Khanh Ly with many years of farming experience has designed and built for her family a clean vegetable garden without chemicals, the size of a mini-farm with all kinds of seasonal vegetables, arranged scientifically. The garden is located in Thao Nguyen sub-area, the town of Moc Chau Farm, which is an empty piece of land given to her and her husband by her father-in-law.

Introducing herself, Ms. Ly shared that she is a mother of 3 babies, currently trading in agricultural materials. Her family has a tradition of farming, so she soon came into contact with farming. However, her mother only officially fell in love with the garden after getting married. Ms. Ly wants to be able to grow her own clean vegetables and change the family’s taste in every meal. So her father-in-law cut a piece of land so that the couple could easily grow vegetables and raise chickens.

“I have cherished the idea of gardening for a long time. But it was not until September last year, after building the house, that I planned out all the land, rebuilt the wall, then designed the garden and the livestock area.” , Moc Chau’s mother said.

Ms. Ly came up with the idea and designed the garden herself based on the ground that her father-in-law cut for her.

The garden was originally a gentle hill. Ms. Ly had to send someone to scoop and level it, then build a wall around it, lay bricks and build a clean vegetable basin. Because of the good drainage, the garden is always open, when it rains, it is not dirty, if you want to clean it, just spray it.

The garden is about 150m2, impressed by the neatness and scientific layout. Each vegetable bed is about 1.2 meters wide and 2-3 meters long, evenly spaced apart and has two main aisles for convenient care. All are designed by Ms. Ly herself. She said: “It doesn’t cost much, just add a few bricks, bricks and workers”.

With experience in farming, favorable climate conditions and support from her husband’s family, Ms. Ly does not face too many difficulties in planting and taking care of the garden. Over time, she learned many valuable lessons, such as when planting strawberries, when the tree starts to produce leaves, she only leaves about 4-5 young leaves, and the old leaves have to be removed. According to her, continuous pruning helps the tree to be healthy and to flower quickly.

“The first flower, I will cut it off so that the plant is healthy and strong enough to support the next flower. When the mulberry flower has many flowers, I only have 5 to 6 flowers for a bunch of flowers to feed 5 to 6 fruits/bundle. Thus, The fruit will be large and of the best quality. Ms. Ly shared.

Good green vegetables, fresh up, serving family meals.

From the selection of varieties, to the preparation of the soil, to taking care of them, all are meticulously planned for the best development of the vegetable garden. Moc Chau’s mother revealed: “For the selection of varieties, there are heat-resistant varieties, cold-tolerant varieties. I have to ask the seller clearly to find the right type for the climate conditions of each place. New growers should only grow vegetables in the right season, that will be easy. take care and not be discouraged. Gardeners just pay attention to the loose soil, use decaying manure, water fully and give a lot of love to the garden, then I have succeeded.

Because the purpose of gardening is to grow clean vegetables for the family, Ms. Ly does not use toxic chemicals. She uses organic fertilizer from dairy cows of her family farm, takes care of vegetables mainly with dried pressed cow dung or earthworm manure, so food hygiene and safety are completely ensured.

The garden is a playground and a place to relax for all of Ly’s family.

“The garden is a place for the children to be closer to nature. Every afternoon, the children can sweep the garden, water the vegetables and harvest vegetables for their mother. The pressure from work is also significantly lighter because they go out. In the evening, after dinner, the whole family climbed up to the terrace garden to cool off and relax. In general, since the completion of the garden, I feel very happy. “, Ms. Ly confided.
