His girlfriend, Laura, discovered and soon took her lover to the emergency room. At the hospital, the doctor diagnosed him with a stroke. Reason stroke is a cerebral arteriovenous malformation, an extremely rare disorder that occurs in the blood vessels.
In the days before the stroke, his mood swings were caused by small blood vessels in his brain bursting and healing themselves over and over again. These are small strokes and they affect the area of the brain that regulates emotions.
When he woke up 1 week after being hospitalized, Mr. Dominick discovered that the right half of his body had been damaged paralysis. “I couldn’t walk or talk at all. My friends and family were really shocked because I had a stroke at such a young age,” Dominick said.
Doctors at the Walton Center in the city Liverpool (UK) performed a 9-hour surgery to repair the damage caused by a stroke. Brother Dominick tried to practice speaking again but had a lot of difficulty.
He was eventually diagnosed with non-fluent aphasia. The condition makes it difficult for him to speak, pronounce, and retrieve language.
