Mazda MX-30 has just officially launched in Southeast Asia, specifically Malaysia. The price of the car has not been announced but is expected to be under RM 200,000 (~ VND 1.05 billion) to compete with rivals Hyundai Kona Electric is priced at 791 million – 1.05 billion VND.
The design of the Mazda MX-30 still carries the brand’s signature Kodo language but has a more unique design thanks to the removal of the B-pillars to create “freestyle doors” (2 passenger compartment doors open backwards), and at the same time equipped with a rear door inspired by the RX-8 sports car.
The length x width x height of the Mazda MX-30 is 4,395 x 1,795 x 1,570 mm, respectively, and the wheelbase reaches 2,655 mm – equivalent to the CX-30 internal combustion engine version. The luggage compartment capacity of the car is at 332L as standard and increases to 1,137L when folding the rear seats in the ratio of 60:40. The car is equipped with 18-inch multi-spoke wheels painted in black.
Inside the Mazda MX-30 cabin, there are many modern amenities, including a 7-inch digital instrument panel, an 8.8-inch central entertainment screen compatible with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, a HUD screen, a stereo system. 12-speaker Bose audio, electrically adjustable seats, 240V charging port, etc. In particular, the interior of the car uses a lot of environmentally friendly materials such as cork and decorative fabric at the door, which combines fibers from recycled plastic bottles. .
The MX-30 is equipped with e-Skyactiv front-wheel drive and an electric motor for a capacity of 143 horsepower and maximum torque of 271 Nm. The 35.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack on the vehicle provides a maximum range of 199 km on a full charge.
Included with the car is an AC charger with a Type 2 port, with a capacity of up to 6.6 kW. Using the wall box at full capacity, it takes 5 hours to fully charge, while a regular power plug providing 3 kW will take 12 hours. According to the Japanese automaker, if using a fast charger, the MX-30 takes only 36 minutes to charge from 0-80% with an input power of 40 kW.
