Microchip Launches GridTime™ 3000 GNSS Time Server

On April 27, Microchip Technology Inc. announced GridTime™ 3000 GNSS Time Server – a software-configurable solution to improve substation redundancy, security and stability.

The GridTime 3000 system broadcasts precise time and frequency signals to synchronize analog and digital communication systems.

This precision-timed signaling platform integrates multiple timing signal inputs to avoid problems when GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) signal interruptions occur due to weather conditions. bad weather, environmental effects or attacks that jam or spoof the timing signal.

There are also three levels of internal holdover options, including a base voltage controlled temperature-compensated crystal oscillator and an optional performance crystal oscillator. It has a regulator chamber or Rubi oscillator to prolong the tracking time of the synchronous signal as well as improve performance.

Microchip’s latest IEC 61850-3 compliant Timer Server ensures high stability against power fluctuations as well as the effects of extreme environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, and many other factors. while ensuring reliability in the harsh environments of the substation.

Microchip’s GNSS GridTime 3000 Timer Server includes an internal browser-based management interface – the Clock Management Tool (CMT).
