Police release video of Alec Baldwin receiving news that the cameraman died after the shooting
Published interview footage shows the moment Alec Baldwin covered his mouth with his hand and sat in silence after being told that camerawoman Halyna Hutchins had died in a shooting accident on the set of Rust. Halyna Hutchins died after Baldwin performed a shooting scene during a rehearsal for the movie Western in New Mexico in October 2021.
Footage released by the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office shows Baldwin sitting with two deputies as one tells him, “I actually have some very unfortunate news to tell you. She didn’t. can do”.
The 64-year-old actor said “No!” before putting his hand over his mouth and sitting in silence afterward. The deputy then explained that the film’s director, Joel Souza, who was injured in the shooting, was still in the hospital and added that she didn’t want Alec to hear the sad news outside.
When asked if the people there could do anything for him, Baldwin said he wanted to call his wife before walking out of the room and placing his hand on his forehead.
The footage was released as the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office said the message “was found on text messages during an investigation into the fatal shooting.
Sheriff Adan Mendoza said the messages discussed the possibility of using live ammunition in another film – months before the Rust movie began production.
Recently, all the files related to the ongoing investigation into the Rust crew shooting were released, including a video of Baldwin practicing with a revolver.
“There’s disorganization and the degree of negligence, whether that goes up to criminal or not will depend on the district attorney,” Sheriff Mendoza told NBC.
Baldwin is currently continuing to fight a number of lawsuits stemming from the incident.
