This number is expected to increase further in the coming years. This is the reason why real estate for retirement is starting to develop strongly in Vietnam.

Ms. Thanh has been retired for decades, her family lives mainly in Hanoi. But she was looking for a second home on Ngoc Phu Quoc Island. Good place to live and good health care are her two top concerns at the moment.

Phu Quoc has been in the list of 15 destinations voted for retirement age voted by International Living Magazine of the US. The reasons given are: low cost of living, rich culture, fresh natural climate.

According to Mr. Matthew Powell – Director of Savills Hanoi, in countries like China or Singapore, the real estate segment for pensioners is very interested. The requirements of this customer group are quite diverse, from specialized facilities with changing health to 24/7 care. Resorts like those in Phu Quoc will be very suitable if they are invested with additional services.”

Middle-aged and retired people have a high accumulation of assets, are willing to pay for real estate services and products, if suitable for their needs. Therefore, the real estate segment for pensioners is gradually appearing in the market.
