Shooting at a kindergarten in Russia, 3 people were killed

Regional governor Alexey Russkhikh said on Telegram: “Two children and a teacher were killed, a teacher was injured and she is receiving medical treatment.”

Service shoot happened at the Ryabinka kindergarten near the town of Veshkaima, Mr. Russkhikh said.

Russian human rights inspector Tatyana Moskalkova identified, the subject of the case shootings is Akhtyamov Ruslan, a local resident, born in 1996, and describes him as “mentally ill”.

According to Tatyana Moskalkov, the subject used a double-barreled Izh-26 pistol registered under another person’s name and committed suicide by “shooting himself in the face”. The two murdered children were born in 2016 and 2017.

Meanwhile, local sources reported, a man with a gun entered the kindergarten during a nap time, shot two 5- and 6-year-old children and a staff member and then killed himself. A school employee was also injured.

Russian authorities said that this man stole another person’s gun and caused the shooting. The owner of the gun was later found dead, according to Deputy Governor Alexander Korobko.

Local human rights inspector Sergei Lulkov confirmed that the shooter had “no connection” with the teacher and the murdered children, Interfax news agency reported. The motive for the shooting is not yet known.

Russia in 2021 has been rocked by two different tragic shootings, one at a school in the city of Kazan and another at a university in Perm. The shootings have prompted Russian lawmakers to tighten laws governing gun access.
