Recently, the real cause of the accident was announced, making many people, especially those whose loved ones died in the tragedy, very angry.
According to an investigative report by French experts, the cause of the accident was that the half-smoked cigarette in the cockpit caught fire with oxygen leaking from the oxygen mask, causing the cockpit to catch on fire.
The 134-page report was sent to the appellate court in Paris (France) in March, but the new content was published by the newspaper Corriere della Sera revealed on April 26. This report has not been made publicly available.

Experts say the setting on the oxygen mask was changed from normal to emergency by a maintenance technician. And when the smoke from the pilot’s cigarette accidentally caused an oxygen leak from the emergency mask, it caused an abnormal change.
To draft the report, French experts met 23 times between August 2021 and February 2022.
