Tips for cleaning mirrors and glasses with newspaper

Blurry, dull streaks often appear on the mirror surface even though it is regularly wiped with a towel in combination with cleaning products such as glass cleaner.

Using a newspaper is the best way to clean mirrors. This method gives a natural shine while leaving no streaks, whether it is a bathroom mirror or a full length mirror in the living room. According to SLFP, you should clean the mirror with a newspaper, a combination of white vinegar and a spray bottle.

Newspapers are very absorbent and have a denser texture than towels or napkins… Plus, the ink doesn’t stick to the glass. Thus, they act as a light polishing material by removing dirt and liquid from the mirror, while leaving no residue or dust. Meanwhile, paper towels and hand towels often leave residue and slip on the surface, making the mirror not 100% shiny.

How to clean the mirror with newspaper?

Mix one cup of water, one cup of vinegar, and one teaspoon of dish soap. Pour the solution into a spray bottle, then spray directly onto the mirror surface. Using a newspaper, crumple it, rub it on the mirror from top to bottom, left to right, until the entire mirror is finished.

Note, the ink printed on the newspaper may not stick to the glass, but it is very easy to stick to the wooden door frames, so it is not recommended to wipe old newspapers on the frame of the mirror/glass.
