7 Vietnamese universities are in the top 1000 most influential universities in the world in 2022

On April 28, Times Higher Education (THE) Magazine announced the ranking results of THE Impact Rankings. This is a ranking that uses the pioneering implementation of the United Nations’ 17 sustainable development goals as a criterion to rank educational institutions. University globally.

This year, Hanoi National University, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Ton Duc Thang University, Phenikaa University and 3 new educational institutions participated in this ranking: Duy Tan University, FPT University and School of Education. National Economics University.

THE Impact Rankings aim to measure the success of higher education institutions in implementing the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations (effective since 2016). Global call to action with the goal of building a peaceful, just and prosperous society. In other words, this ranking evaluates the influence (Impact) and contribution of educational institutions to social development, human development, and environmental protection.

If in 2020, Vietnam has only 2 higher education institutions listed in this ranking, in 2021 there are 4 ranked institutions, and in 2022 there are 7 ranked institutions. . Specifically: Hanoi National University (position 601-800), Ton Duc Thang University (position 601-800), Hanoi University of Science and Technology (position 601-800), and Hanoi University of Science and Technology (position 601-800). Phenikaa (position 801-1000), and 3 new educational institutions ranked in 2022: Duy Tan University (position 601-800), National Economics University (position 601-800) and University of Science and Technology. FPT University (position 801-1000).

All 7 Vietnamese higher education institutions are ranked highly in SDG No. 8 (Decent Economic Growth and Employment) and Hanoi University of Science and Technology has the highest ranking with 70.3 points. VNU has a high ranking in SDG 4 (Quality Education), with 63.1 points. Meanwhile, SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) is one of three outstanding indicators of PFT University and Ton Duc Thang University; SDG 16 (Peace, justice and strong institutions) is the strength of National Economics University, Ton Duc Thang University and Duy Tan University.

It can be said that Vietnam’s higher education institutions have oriented more towards sustainable development goals and serving the community when in 2022, 3 more universities will be ranked.

In 2022, the top 10 institutions in THE Impact Rankings’ ranking is no longer Western Sydney University (Austrilia), Arizona State University (USA) and Western University (Canada). Most prominently, Universiti Sains (Malaysia) has been recorded in 4th place and is the representative of Southeast Asia and Asia with the highest ranking in THE Impact Rankings ever.

In Southeast Asia, Thailand has 51 higher education institutions in this ranking (an increase of 26 compared to 2021) and Chulalongkorn University has the highest rank with 16th place in the ranking. Malaysia has 23 campuses (an increase of 4 campuses compared to 2021), of which Universiti Sains has had outstanding results with 4th place. Indonesia has 28 campuses (up 10 institutions compared to 2021), the Philippines has 15 campuses (an increase of 10 establishments compared to 2021) and Cambodia has 1 ranking participating institution present in this Ranking.
