The man who won the jackpot, died in an instant and was tragically poisoned by his wife

Winning the jackpot is the dream of many Vietnamese. But many people have a tragic end after only a few years of “going to life” thanks to a lucky lottery ticket, even nearly losing their life like the case of Mr. Nguyen Van Hau (SN 1959, Hau Giang).

Suddenly won 100 million dong

Mr. Hau came from a poor family, working hard enough to eat, but he did not have any money to spare. His wife died of an illness, so for ten years he stayed there to raise six children. At this time, the children saw that the old man was weak and lonely, so they advised him to go to another country with someone to keep him company and take care of him when he was old. He had to ask a matchmaker for Ms. Ngan to live in the next commune.

“Mrs Ngan was once a husband, and her children had their own families. Therefore, when she heard that Mr. Hau had come to ask the question, she nodded in agreement. So the two old people decided to pull together,” said a neighbor of Mr. Hau’s family.

The life of Mr. Hau and Mrs. Ngan was very happy in the early days, always cheerful and chatty like a married couple. Day by day, the old man worked hard, hoeing and plowing the soil in the pomelo garden behind the house. He said he loved his wife, so he didn’t want her to touch anything, just taking care of 3 meals a day is enough.

But human calculation is not equal to heaven calculation, instead of cultivating a small nest, Mrs. Ngan fell into a red and black silver mat. She surreptitiously used up all her savings. Mr. Hau knew about it and immediately advised his wife to stop, but unfortunately, she did not change, still “the horse is familiar with the old way”.

Mr. Hau came from a poor family, working hard enough to eat, but he did not have any money to spare.

“She got involved in gambling and made me lose sleep. Many nights I thought that if she didn’t change, the whole family would only die in poverty. I had to find a solution to buy lucky lottery tickets. Every day, I only buy 1 sheet to see if I am lucky to enjoy “heavenly fortune” or not?”, Mr. Hau once confided.

That day, Mr. Hau went out to drink with a friend. The old man selling lottery tickets came to invite him, his friend happily took 2 tickets, but immediately wanted to return one ticket. At this time, Mr. Hau joked: “You choose and then return it, if you don’t take it, leave it to me. I won this afternoon.” No wonder he really won!

“I was busy working when the old man selling lottery tickets ran to the journalist with the good news. He said that the ticket I bought in the morning to support won 100 million VND. Honestly, I used to think about buying a lottery ticket for good luck but never thought that that dream would come true.

At that time, my family was very poor, everyone was happy when they received the news that they had hundreds of millions of dollars. The children and grandchildren gathered around the house looking forward to the day they returned to receive the reward. Ms. Ngan stayed up all night and told me to divide the money fairly, lest my children compare and the world would laugh at me,” recalled Mr. Hau.

After receiving the reward, Mr. Hau decided to give each child 5 million VND. After that, he instructed his father to give him a small amount of money, but he had to know how to spend it wisely, not to waste even a dime. The rest of the money he spends to buy seedless lemon trees to breed, plant in the back garden. Then he spent money to buy rice to distribute to the poor in the village. As for Ms. Ngan, he gave 1 million in cash and a pair of gold earrings worth 5 million.

Painful witnessing the scene of his wife maliciously poisoning him

Although her husband splits the money slightly more than her own children, Ms. Ngan is not very comfortable. She always thinks that he loves his children more than his wife, so he gets angry and angry about nothing. She even beat him with a stick, making the whole village know.

“The kids saw this and advised me to get a divorce, but I couldn’t do it. I love her so when I stop being angry, I take the initiative to make peace with the hope that she changes her temper. However, she still suffers from this disability, resentful about dividing the winnings. In particular, I decided not to let my wife keep the money like before,” Mr. Hau confided.

Although her husband splits the money slightly more than her own children, Ms. Ngan is not very comfortable.

That is part of the reason why Hau and his wife argue more. During an argument, Ms. Ngan left home. Neighbors secretly cheered for his release. But after a few days, she returned to make peace and of course he nodded in agreement. He did not know that his first wife for many years was plotting to kill her husband to collect all the winnings.

“That day, when I came home from work in the field, I felt hungry, so I told my nephew to go buy a pack of noodles to cook and then bring a pot of roasted shrimp to eat with him. Because the noodles were hot, I ate a few chopsticks before I put them down and left the house behind.

Before leaving, I scooped up some roasted shrimps on the spoon, then came back later and ate again. I carelessly chewed the shrimp, but before I could swallow it, I felt the hot spicy taste and the smell of rat poison. I immediately spit it out and looked back at the pot of roasted shrimp and saw that everything had turned purple,” shared Mr. Hau.

Suspecting someone poisoned, Mr. Hau immediately reported the police to investigate. Through an autopsy, the police confirmed that someone put poison in his food and conducted a search for the perpetrator. Strangely, Mrs. Ngan always tried to get out of the house during this time.

However, when the police put suspicion on Ms. Ngan, Mr. Hau brushed it off, saying there was no way a wife would kill her husband. After many days of investigation, following the trace of the case, the police agency determined that Ms. Ngan poisoned her husband. Accordingly, at first she denied it, but in front of the clear evidence, she had to bow her head to confess. She stated that the purpose of poisoning her husband was to appropriate the winnings because she was angry when she was divided too little. “I’m dumbfounded because I never thought she would do that to someone who tolerated and forgave her countless times”, Mr. Hau burst into tears.
