Buy cheap used kitchen cabinets, the man “slut” nearly 4 billion
Mr. Thomas Heller (50 years old) is a social housing worker. In mid-April, he bought a cheap old kitchen cabinet from a family in Bitterfeld town, Anhalt-Bitterfeld district, Saxony-Anhalt (Germany), at a cheap price for temporary use. Then, an unexpected thing happened.

Not winning the lottery from buying a cheap used kitchen cabinet, but this story is like winning the lottery. However, this man’s handling made everyone admire.
A few days after making the sale of the oak kitchen cabinet on April 14, Mr. Thomas cleaned out the cabinets to put his things in. He discovered two boxes of money worth hundreds of euros. He recounted: “I saw the kitchen cabinet for sale on ebay for 300 euros (equivalent to about 7.2 million dong). I negotiated with the owner and got a discount to 240 euros (equivalent to 5.8 million dong)” .

Mr. Thomas discovered 2 boxes of money worth up to hundreds of euros a cheap old kitchen cabinet.
While cleaning the old cabinet, Mr. Thomas was surprised to discover two piles of cash worth up to 155,000 euros (equivalent to nearly 4 billion VND).
Thomas said: “A bill appeared in front of my eyes and then many 100-euro bills.” This can be considered a “gift” falling from the sky and hitting Mr. Thomas’s house. However, instead of pocketing the sizable amount of cash, he immediately took it to the local police station.
Amazed at the value of money and the man’s honesty, the police took the case to the district court and began conducting an investigation to find the original owner of the kitchen cabinet.

Police spokeswoman Astrid Kuchta said: “The kitchen was liquidated by an elderly couple as a household.”
The investigation revealed that the money belonged to a 91-year-old woman who had moved into a nursing home after her husband’s death. The results of the investigation showed that it was the grandson of the elderly couple who sold the cabinet to Mr. Thomas without knowing there was money inside.

Under German law, keeping cash worth 10 euros or more (owned by someone else) is a crime of embezzlement. Offenders can face up to three years in prison.
But in this case, Mr. Thomas did not cheat, so he was eligible to receive a search fee of 3% of the total value, about 4,500 euros (equivalent to more than 100 million VND). Mr. Thomas did not disclose how he plans to use the rewards.
