Elevate the value of special relic of the Central Department of the South
GS. TSKH. Tran Ngoc Them proposed, it is possible to build the Southern Revolutionary Capital Tourist Area on the basis of the Central Department’s Base. Because the Central Bureau of the South is a highly representative relic, not only for Tay Ninh, for the South, but for the whole country.
Live forever the memory of the Central Department of the South
Every time I have the opportunity to visit the Central Department of the South (Tay Ninh), names such as Lo Go, Xa Mat, Ka Tum… come rushing back to the memory of the old soldier Nguyen Van Khanh.
Mr. Khanh was originally a Second Lieutenant, who had lived and fought in the battlefields of the Central Department of the South since the age of twenty. Living in Cu Chi district, this year Mr. Khanh is 82 years old.

From War Zone D, Mr. Khanh was assigned to the Central Department of the South in charge of the Guard platoon.
Mr. Khanh said, the mountains and forests of the East are murky, without a shadow of people, with many tigers. Sleeping at night, people have to stay in hammocks high up so as not to be attacked by wild animals.
Many times Mr. Khanh participated in loading rice. The road was arduous, as long as he was healthy, rice was brought back to his teammates to eat. Unfortunately, when he was ill, he could not bring back any rice. When there was a shortage, the soldiers had to eat the burnt rice from the previous day.
Many people were injured but there was no anesthetic. “When using sickles to remove joints for sick soldiers, people chewed on medicinal leaves picked in the forest to treat diseases. Then they used songs and lyrics to ease the pain,” said Mr. Khanh.
There have been countless sacrifices and hardships; South Central Department’s base is associated with indelible memories.
“My health is not as good as before, but if I have the opportunity, I still want to visit the place I consider as my second home,” Mr. Khanh said.

According to Dr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Faculty of Culture, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City, when talking about Tay Ninh, people often talk about 3 symbols: cultural space of Ba Den mountain, Cao Dai religion, and Ba Den mountain. Central Department of the South.
“In which, the special national cultural and historical relic, the Central Base of the Southern Department of Vietnam, is a symbol of the revolutionary tradition of the resilient Tay Ninh land,” said Dr. Brand said.
Dr. Nguyen Minh Man, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, said that the sacred values of the revolutionary relics in Tay Ninh could be exploited as a source for tourists inside and outside the province.
Even with the youth generation, the youth union activities at all levels in the Southeast region choose the Central Headquarters of the Southern Department in Tay Ninh.
“Promoting the value of revolutionary history is one of the spearheads of economic development for tourism in Tay Ninh”, said Dr. Man commented.
Construction of Southern Revolutionary Capital Tourist Area
In 2013, the People’s Council of Tay Ninh province issued a Resolution on the master plan for tourism development in Tay Ninh until 2020, with a vision to 2030.
Accordingly, promoting the revolutionary historical value to develop tourism products is one of the tourism development strategies of Tay Ninh province.

The resolution determines that it is necessary to invest in preserving revolutionary historical relics in the area, taking the special national relic area of the Central Department of Southern Vietnam as a highlight.
At the same time, the state needs to invest in upgrading transport infrastructure to areas and tourist attractions to attract tourists, according to the resolution.
GS. TSKH. Tran Ngoc Them, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, was one of the participants in the cultural survey to serve the development of Tay Ninh tourism in early April.
According to GS. In addition, the Central Department of the South is a historical – cultural relic meeting the criteria of being highly representative, not only for Tay Ninh, for the South, but for the whole country.
However, 90% of visitors to Tay Ninh will choose Ba Den Mountain resort. The number of tourists visiting all historical sites of the Southern Revolution accounts for only 2% as in fact, it is disproportionate.

GS. More analysis, the first thing to do for a tourist destination is to build a brand.
The tourist destination brand is a distinctive, highly competitive feature that allows the destination to be identified, and leaves an imprint in the visitor’s perception.
The name “Central Base of the Southern Department” is the correct name. However, to develop tourism, this name has not met the requirements of a tourist destination brand.
Since then, GS. More proposed name: Capital of the Southern Revolution. And the next thing to do is to plan a tourist destination to build the Southern Revolutionary Capital Tourist Area.
Keeping tourists at the Central Department of the South
The headquarters of the Central Department of the South is currently planned into two areas, including a relic area and a memorial area.
GS. More proposed, the planning of the Southern Revolutionary Capital tourist area should have at least 4 subdivisions:
1. Relic subdivision of the residences and working places of revolutionary leaders (currently existing, but needs to continue to be supplemented and perfected).
2. Revolutionary Capital Museum.
The gallery of the tourist area of the Central Base of the Southern Department is still monotonous. The Revolutionary Capital Museum needs to point out the advantages of geographical location and special natural conditions of the northern region of Tay Ninh province.
Those are the advantages that help this place meet the requirements of the revolutionary capital of being secretive, mobile, and limited to being attached to a specific place for a long time.
At the same time, the contents of the Revolutionary Capital Museum must cover the entire history of the southern revolution in particular and modern Vietnam in general. As a comparative appendix, the Museum also has to research and introduce the revolutionary capitals of your countries.

(3-4) In addition to the Relics subdivision and the Museum subdivision, the Southern Revolutionary Capital tourist area needs an entertainment – entertainment subdivision and a food – shopping subdivision.
According to GS. In addition, implementing the project with this system of 4 subdivisions, Tay Ninh can retain visitors longer, from 1 session to 1 day.
Thereby, international tourists and generations of Vietnamese people can gain a huge amount of knowledge related to the Vietnam War.
With this project, the Southern Revolutionary Capital tourist area will meet both the needs of tourists in resting, entertaining and spending money.
“Also with this project, Tay Ninh will make an important contribution to the country in preserving and promoting the value of an invaluable historical-cultural heritage, helping to revive the memory of a war forever. legend”, Prof. Add share.
