Heavy rain, many roads in Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai flooded more than half a meter

The prolonged heavy rain caused many roads in Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai to be deeply flooded and congested in some areas, on the evening of April 29.

At To Ngoc Van street, Linh Dong ward, Thu Duc city (HCMC), the water was deep to the saddle, a series of vehicles stalled. People have to wade through the water to lead their cars to find a place to repair. Some other people put the car up to a high place and the gas pushed water from the exhaust pipe. Many drivers parked their cars close to the roadside waiting for the water to recede.

Driving the car to find a place to change the spark plugs, Mr. Hoang Tuan, 26 years old, said that he was coming home from work in District 1 near the Linh Xuan overpass in heavy rain, the road was flooded, and the car was flooded. Many nearby roads such as Dang Van Bi, La Xuan Oai and Thu Duc market area were also flooded with more than half a cake, affecting many houses.

Some households have to use wooden barriers to prevent water from entering the house. “Since the beginning of the year, there has been no such heavy rain. My house has raised the foundation nearly 40 cm, but it is still flooded,” said Mr. Hung, who lives in Linh Tay ward.

Heavy rain also flooded many low-lying sections along Pham Van Dong Boulevard, causing many difficulties for many people on the way to the bus station and Tan Son Nhat airport to return to their hometown. Thousands of cars and motorbikes lined up, inching little by little.

In Dong Nai, the rain lasted from afternoon to evening, causing many roads in Bien Hoa city such as Nguyen Ai Quoc, national highways 1, 51, Bui Van Hoa… to flood more than half a meter deep, many tourist cars died. Some houses near the flooded area were flooded with water, large cars passed and created waves to hit the houses.

Besides Bien Hoa, Trang Bom district in Tri An junction area, Song May industrial park, Trang Bom town… were also heavily flooded. Many workers who work the night shift have to go back and forth to drive the car through the flooded section due to engine failure. Three days ago, Bien Hoa city and some surrounding areas were also deeply flooded due to rain.

According to the Hydrometeorological Station of the Southern region, the influence of low pressure trench and low pressure on the sea has caused heavy rain in many southern provinces. Some areas have more than 100 mm of rainfall.
