I want to do a job related to Korean translation after graduation, but it is difficult for me to pass the Korean language major of a university.
I’m preparing for the university entrance exam and am interested in the Korean language major – majoring in translation and interpretation.
Asking questions on the forum about the relationship between majors, degrees and jobs related to Korean, I received advice from my seniors that most companies do not require a degree, only TOPIK certificate and experience. However, I think that with a degree in the right field, job opportunities will be more open. Therefore, I do not want to study languages in centers but want to learn this foreign language to get a university degree.
Reading information on recruitment websites, I see that all companies require a degree, at least a college degree, but I don’t know if they require a degree in Korean language, or any other major. whatever.
If it is necessary to be in Korean, I think I have little chance because the possibility of passing this major at university level is not high. Therefore, I have learned another branch of Oriental Studies. I briefly looked at the training program and found that it teaches Korean language and culture, but also teaches Japanese and Japanese culture. I’m afraid that I won’t be able to specialize in the language I want very much.
I want to ask if I should choose Oriental studies and if not majoring in Korean Language in university will make me lose the opportunity to do jobs using this language? Looking forward to everyone’s advice.
