Son-in-law stabbed his mother-in-law in Hanoi and a late apology

Today, the Hanoi People’s Court brought defendant Hoang Van Dung (SN 1985, in Thach That) to trial for murder. The victim is Dung’s mother-in-law.

The allegation is that, stemming from a marital conflict between Hoang Van Dung and his wife, Le Thi Kim Tien, Tien left to live at her mother’s house (Mrs. Nguyen Thi Toi, in Thach That, Hanoi).

Because many times Dung asked his wife to go home, but Mrs. Toi did not let her and Ms. Tien did not return, causing Dung to have the intention of stabbing his wife and mother-in-law to death with a knife.

Around 19:40 on January 8, 2021, Dung brought a pregnancy knife, hid it in the waistband of his pants, and went to Mrs. Toi’s house.

Because the gate of the mother-in-law’s house was closed, the defendant climbed the wall to the 2nd floor. Here, Dung met Ms. Tien and told his wife: “Go home”. Ms. Tien disagreed, replied: “What can you do to get up here?”

When the two of them went down to the first floor, Tien said to her mother: “Mom, how did he get up here?” At this time, Mrs. Tien loudly cursed her son-in-law: “What are you stealing and stealing, but lurking here?” Dung replied: “Well, I’ll go home.”

But Mrs. Toi pulled her son-in-law’s hand and said: “You are here, I will call the commune police to arrest you, what are you trying to steal from my house”.

Standing in front of his mother-in-law, angry at being cursed, Dung pulled out a knife and stabbed Ms. Toi in the stomach, causing her mother-in-law to have a stab wound to her stomach.

Due to timely emergency treatment, Ms. Toi did not die, but suffered 31% damage to her health. On October 9, 2021, Dung was arrested.

During the investigation of the case, the defendant’s mother voluntarily compensated for her treatment costs, drugs, and health benefits. To 155 million VND.

Ms. To received compensation from the family and applied to reduce the punishment for her son-in-law. In court, she earnestly asked to reduce the guilt for the accused.

After apologizing to his mother-in-law, Dung was sentenced to 11 years in prison.
